This post features the topic taken up by Jacqui Gingras and Charlotte Cooper in the latest issue of the Journal of Critical Dietetics. In this opinion piece (Pages 2-5) the authors outline the reasons why a trademark causes the Health at Every Size movement to be curtailed. Charlotte has also posted briefly on her blog, Obesity Timebomb about the same topic. The authors invite you to share how you want the HAES movement to move from today onward. Is there a problem with trademarking HAES?

Welcome to the journal publication after party. We are pleased to open this space as a discussion forum for work published in the Journal of Critical Dietetics. We welcome your questions and comments.
As editor, I will open the conversation with a question: Do you think the third issue is appropriately titled “Difficult Truths”? How can we create more opportunities for sharing ideas and knowledges that are often not shared in dietetics? How do other disciplines practice similarly? Does the naming of these papers as “difficult truths” reproduce and reinforce something that is not?
