This research article is the follow up to a quantitative study on dietetic students in Ontario who do not get internships. While the descriptive study is good to provide data in defense of changing the educational system (especially in Ontario), the qualitative study appeals to the affect and buttresses the ethical case against maintaining the status quo. Should all students who graduate from accredited programs be guaranteed internships? We think not, but for those who are qualified and have worked extremely hard to become dietitians, there should be more spots. As well, there are shortages of dietitians to fill positions in rural and remote areas. Over time, those positions get re-purposed i.e. they are lost forever. Well, you can read the paper to get a clear idea of what the authors are proposing as solutions to this problem. Or is it a problem?
